Is the end near? Many speculate the end is as near as 2012 based on ancient Mayan prophesy. Avid stargazers that they were, the ancient Mayan discovered an astrological 26,000-year cycle in which the Earth transits through a variety of enlightened ages all being destroyed by the very thing that built them. The interesting thing is that many of the ancient cultures including the Sumerians,Tibetans, Egyptians, Cherokees and Hopi all refer to this same 26,000-yearcycle in their mystical belief systems.

What does this all mean? Does it mean the world is going to end in 2012? Probably not but, it is sure fun to speculate and make documentaries and movies about it. At the very least it will give the bored masses something to worry about and scientists something to try and explain. Who knows, this may have been a Mayan calling for a Cosmic Kegger kick off party to the New Age.
